Wednesday May 19th, 2021 From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson with your Agribusiness Update. Productive orchards are being removed in California’s Central Valley, as farmers cope with severe water shortages prompted by drought and water-system limitations.
One Fresno County farmer says he’s pulling out almost 400 acres of almond trees.
Federal and state water projects say they will provide little to no irrigation water to many agricultural customers, so farmers must calculate how much food they can grow with limited supplies. Importers can’t get enough U.S. corn with the purchase of 1.36 million tons of corn for delivery to China in the marketing year opening September 1st.

Since opening Taglish, his Filipino-American eatery inside Lotte Plaza Market, Collantes has stepped on the pedal by forming the Taglish Collective, the restaurant group behind the expansion of the Taglish brand (Taglish UCF opening next month), the recently opened high-end omakase concept Soseki (review also coming next month) and EightySix Media, a test kitchen/supper club/media company.
It s also behind Perla s Pizza, the inviting little pie house joined at the hip to the Thirsty Topher in Ivanhoe Village. In fact, Collantes teamed up with Topher owners Ron DiDonato and Jason Perez to open Perla s as a way to draw business back to the beer bar after it was ordered closed during the pandemic.

Having watched patients in their most vulnerable times of pain and agony, I have been privileged to witness many of them find the courage and strength to rise above their circumstances. I have noticed that resilient people have certain traits and a mindset that sets them apart.
As a young girl, I first started observing how my parents responded to crisis. I grew up during a war that took over our lives for close to a decade. I watched how my parents implemented safety measures and took in the worries, but held a straight face. Looking back at those years I now see a pattern. I see how resilient people share certain characteristics. These common traits leave clues and teach us proven effective approaches on how to bend, but not break in the face of adversity.
